Approach
Matt is a leadership and organisational development coach and consultant with 25 years’ experience, specialising in equity, diversity, and inclusion. His work spans grassroots engagement with marginalised communities to leading large-scale, city-level change programmes. With a PhD in Sociology focused on everyday power and privilege at the intersections of race, gender, and class, Matt supports leaders to create inclusive, values-led cultures that are both impactful and sustainable.
Drawing on existential philosophy and informed by his academic research into systemic power and privilege, Matt takes a deeply reflective approach to coaching. He helps leaders navigate complex identity dynamics – especially those with dominant identity markers – through both personal insight and systemic awareness. His coaching is grounded in responsibility, authenticity, and the courage to lead differently.
Matt’s coaching style is thought-provoking and empathetic. Clients value the moments of profound realisation he facilitates – those quiet breakthroughs that spark deeper self-awareness and lasting behavioural change.
Background
Based in the UK, he brings decades of experience across sectors and communities.
Outside of coaching, Matt is a single father to two grown daughters. He’s a lover of cities, café culture, red wine, music, and reimagining recipes from Great British Menu – often all at once. When possible, he travels by motorbike, combining reflection and adventure.
